A beginner's guide: Autumn/Winter (A/W)2025 Fashion Week

Fashion Week is here, bringing to our screens the chaos, glamour, and brilliance of designers and runway models. Many of us have wondered what Fashion Weeks and their seasons are all about—I know I’ve often found the workings, schedules, and endless details always a tad bit overwhelming. Trying to keep up can be confusing, with countless archives, celebrities, designers, and shows to absorb. So I decided to organize A/W 2025 for my sake, do a little research, write it down and simply put it out there :)

What is Fashion Week?

Fashion Week is a major event in the fashion industry where top designers showcase their collections for the upcoming seasons. It’s held twice a year:

• Spring/Summer (S/S) collections debut in September/October.

• Autumn/Winter (A/W) collections debut in February/March of the previous year.

The A/W 2025 Fashion Week will showcase the trends, fabrics, and styles that will shape what we see in stores(and our streets) by (late) 2025.

The "Big Four" Fashion Capitals and other locations:

Each of the four key cities brings a unique perspective to Fashion Week:

• New York: Commercial and modern

• London: Experimental and edgy

• Milan: Luxurious and tailored

• Paris: Artistic and trend-defining

  
  

While these cities dominate, other fashion capitals also contribute greatly to the schedule, adding diversity to the event.

Copenhagen and Berlin Fashion Weeks highlight emerging designers, sustainability, and avant-garde styles. While they focus on Nordic and German talent, they continue to grow in global recognition, offering a fresh perspective compared to the major fashion capitals. Additionally, Pitti Uomo is a menswear trade event that takes place in Florence, Italy. It is one of the more important events for menswear designs, specifically ready-to-wear showcases.

• London Fashion Week: February 20-24, 2025

• Milan Fashion Week: February 25-March 3, 2025

• Paris Fashion Week: March 3-11, 2025

Key Changes in A/W 25 Fashion Week and Why its news:

This year, the A/W 2025 Fashion Week schedule has changed a little, as compared to the traditionally followed schedules:

• New York, London, Milan, and Paris are starting later than usual, giving more time for preparation.

• Men's Fashion Week will begin in January, followed by Haute Couture and Ready-to-Wear shows through February and March.

• There's now a nine-day gap between New York and London, which has received mixed reactions.

• Some like the extra time, but others are worried about the impact on smaller fashion weeks like Berlin and Copenhagen. This change raises questions about the future of the fashion calendar.
